Master Drawing

In our Creative Workflow class, we were asked to recreate a work of art done in pencil or ink. I chose to recreate Toulouse Lautrec’s 1889 Guele de Bois because I really enjoyed the variation in stroke width and the sketch’s messy nature. I started off by copying the drawing with the grid technique, drawing two grids of the same size in my sketchbook and on a printout of the artwork. Then I went over the pencil with fine liners so that my drawing would show up better when scanned. Finally, I put the drawing in Photoshop and coloured it in with contrasting shades of blue and orange using my Wacom tablet.
